Believe it or not the UFFC-S had never had a chapter in Seattle. We finally corrected that and formed the UFFC Seattle Chapter in early 2023. A key aim of the chapter is to provide an attractive forum for technical growth and professional networking for the Seattle-area UFFC community.

Key activities for 2023 have focused on hosting technical events at our academic and industry partners. Our kick-off event was held at the University of Washington (UW) in Seattle and included a presentation by Dr. Kai Thomenius (UFFC Distinguished Lecturer). Our most recent event was held at the Philips Healthcare Bothell Campus with a presentation by Dr. Matt O’Donnell (UW Dean Emeritus of Engineering). Upcoming hybrid events in Decembe will include presentations by Dr. Alfred Yu (University of Waterloo, Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering, T-UFFC Editor in Chief) and Dr. Pierre Mourad (UW Professor of Neurological Surgery).

Our interim Executive Committee (ExCom) includes Dr. Kendall Waters (Chair), Dr. Randall Williams (Vice Chair),and Kaizer Contreras (Secretary). Elections for the 2024 ExCom will be held in November.

For those readers that are local to the Seattle area, consider joining us at an upcoming event and volunteering to help build a great chapter. We are also looking to partner with other chapters for future events. Contact Kendall Waters ((Click to show email)) to learn more.
