Welcome Message from the Student Representatives

It is a great pleasure for us to serve you as UFFC Student Representatives this year. Let us first briefly introduce ourselves to you:

Christian Hansen began his duties as a Student Representative in 2007. He is currently a Ph.D. student in the Institute of High Frequency Engineering at the Ruhr-University Bochum, Germany. After having received his Diploma degree (comparable to a Master's) in 2003 from the same university, he started to concentrate on research in the field of ultrasonic imaging. Besides tissue characterization and ultrasound based navigation, he has mainly been working in the field of contrast enhanced ultrasound imaging.

Yinbo Li also started to serve as a Student Representative this year. She is now a Ph.D. student in the Medical Ultrasound Lab (Hossack Lab) in the Biomedical Engineering Department at the University of Virginia. She is currently working on quantification of murine cardiac contractile function using ultrasound imaging. She has also worked on Myocardial Contrast Echocardiography on mice. She received her B.S. and M.S. in Electrical Engineering at Tsinghua University in Beijing, China, in 2001 and 2003, respectively.

Emanuel Gottlieb served as a student representative last year. He completed his Ph.D. in 2006 at the University of Southern California (Department of Biomedical Engineering) in the USA, concentrating on high frequency ultrasonic imaging and transducer design. In 2007 he will serve as an advisor for the student representatives.

Please feel free to contact us if you have any suggestion or need any assistance. Meanwhile, we sincerely welcome you to contribute your service to UFFC, and share any ideas, academic, social, or career-related, with us. We will, together with you, try our best to make our UFFC student chapter grow better and stronger.

Student Chapters

The purpose of student chapters of UFFC at universities around the world is to locally explore and promote academic and career issues related to the field of Ultrasonics, Ferroelectrics, and Frequency Control, and to help those interested in the field to get to know one another better outside the classroom and laboratory. Please contact your student representatives on information about starting a student chapter at your university.
