Welcome Message from the EdCom Chair |
|
Welcome to the web site of IEEE Ultrasonics, Ferroelectrics and Frequency Control Society's Education Committee! The Education Committee (EdCom) of the UFFC has been chartered in year 2003. The mission of the EdCom is to promote the science and technology of Ultrasonics, Ferroelectrics and Frequency Control between undergraduate and graduate students in the allied engineering and physical sciences. The Committee reports directly to the President of UFFC.
Specific objectives of the EdCom can be summarized as:
- To expose students to the Ultrasonics, Ferroelectrics
and Frequency Control Society early in their careers.
- To provide students a forum to interact with seniors scientists
and engineers in academe and industry.
- To promote web-based education.
- To provide students with career information.
- To improve communication among students.
The EdCom's broad field-of-interest includes, but is not limited to, modern educational methods and technology, teaching materials, history of the science and engineering pertinent to UFFC, to name a few. Please do not hesitate to drop us a line and provide us with your feedback to as well as expectations from the EdCom.
Sincerely,
E. Koray Akdogan

Conferences: Suggestions and Announcements |
 |
A) Suggestions
The IEEE UFFC Society has several international symposia, which are organized around the world. Students are encouraged to attend as the UFFC considers students a vital part of such events. Participation to such conferences is costly. However, below are some suggestions which have proven to be useful for students in past symposia:
1) Apply for student travel support from the UFFC as early as possible.
2) Try sharing a hotel room with another participating student.
3) Seek financial support from government agencies supporting graduate student travel
4) Join the student list serve by sending an e-mail to uffc@usc.edu for corresponding with your
peers on conference participation or other related matters.

Educational Resources |
|
The UFFC has an array of educational materials (review papers,
software, links etc.) in all three areas of research; namely
Ultrasonics, Ferroelectrics, and Frequency Control. These
educational materials have been provided by experts in their
respective fields, and as such provide an invaluable resource
to students for self-study. The UFFC EdCom is committed to
expand these educational resources in the immediate future.
Therefore, please check the pertinent web pages often! If
you would like to contribute to the education materials posted
on this web page, please send your contributions to eka@rci.rutgers.edu.
Upon favorable evaluation of the suitability of the submitted
material, it will be posted for use by the UFFC student community
at large. Please note that the educational materials provided
here are on a "as-is" basis.
