Theoretical Modeling of a Thickness-Shear Mode Circular Cylinder Piezoelectric Transformer

ABSTRACT We propose a piezoelectric transformer operating with thickness-shear modes of a circular cylinder and perform a theoretical analysis on the transformer. An exact solution from the three-dimensional equations of piezoelectricity is obtained. The output voltage, input admittance, and efficiency of the transformer are determined. The basic behaviors of the transformer are shown by numerical results.
